To demonstrate how this can apply in a specific spend category, the paper focuses on contingent labour as an example – that is, the use of temporary staff and related approaches such as ‘statement of works’ type contracts. Some of the eight procurement ‘value drivers’, such as cost reduction, are pretty obvious, but even in that case there is a surprisingly wide range of activities that contingent labour category managers can undertake to support that goal.
